When my client told me where she lives, i nodded. I’ve been to bukit damansara couple times. I’ve had few clients from there. I did not even bother to set my gps. I was too confident about the directions. But it proved me wrong. I was coming and going out the same junction, driving around bukit damansara to search for Jalan Setiajasa for half an hour till someone suggested i load the google latitude so that he could track where i am exactly on earth and guide me from there. yes, i’m pretty suck at it. haha.

..I have to agree sometimes, technology works way better than your instinct. Knowing myself as miss lost in nowhere, my instinct does not go a long well with sense of directions! lol.

However, i manage to reach on time for the makeup sessions.

Azzah,is a bubbly, friendly lass .. in a layman term, pompuan yang tak control and sangat cool. I love it! She’s been a nice company, loves to talk and not forgetting.. beautiful too. Mus, the fiance’ looks serious and shy but i know he has his funny side within. The girls just love teasing mus and the way he smiles in front of the camera. But thank you for the coorperation, i think he loves the camera, and definitely the camera loves him too!

Azzah, sorry to hear your house got robbed recently. And stupid robbers who ate all your hantaran chocolate, you are definitely losers! Thanks for having me there to capture your engagement ceremony, congratulations!

Becoming a foodie?

February 18, 2010

I love to eat. But I don’t have time to cook. I’m always keen in doing a simple cooking with beautiful garnish.

This is something I’m looking forward to do. Food photography. It looks easy, but its so damn tricky. To make food looks tempting is not as easy as pressing the shutter. But i took the challenge this time. Thanks to Attick Multimedia for giving me the opportunity.

We planned to hold it in a studio at first, but apparently we had to change location as my client told me the food needs to be cook and prepared. The photoshoot took place at my client’s resident finally.

Again, i have expected the long hour and the tricky part. Photographing food is very technical. You have to consider the ambiance, considering natural or artificial lighting and everything is manual. I know there’s a lot more to learn.. I’m a newbie in this area but I’m loving it. This is something i want to do again and again. Not forgetting, we get to eat the food too :)

Okay, besides photographing, i do have a cat. This little hairy creature will wait in front of the gate till i come back from a photoshoot even late night. I can clearly see her sparkling and glowing eyes moving from far even though i cant see her dark fur. Some say she looks like a mogwai from the gremlins. Haha. i couldn’t agree more. She can be irritating but yet she’s still my lil darling. She’ll curl around my feet and sleep close to me while i’m doing my work. Today, i gave her a new haircut. I think she deserves a grooming after a month without shower. Sorry lil lolly, boss is busy!

by the way, its not easy photographing her because she always face his back in front of a camera. lazy cat.

ruby: lolly is cute, 3+4 colors lucky cat kata org lah .. RIP to my chenta, sekrg dah malas nak bela kucing dah ..growing attached then having it died on us ..cant take it no more ..emo terlebey pula! haha

fatini: lucky lolly..i know how it feels bee. Lisa once told me when her cat died. The feeling is worse than being ditched by a guy.

Coffeetable anyone?

February 13, 2010

myfirstphotobookms

My first corporate coffee table book i did for Malakoff. I love how contemporary it looks as compared to the traditional custom storyboard album.Lightweight and very mobile. A bit costly i might say.. But not too suitable for wedding couples who want their memories to last longer due to the tendency to crumple and smear. On the other hand, the cons of traditional custom storyboard album limits to 22 pages and heavier/bulkier. But bear in mind the advantage is it lasts longer, fully laminated, can easily be wiped off due to dirt and liquid. Its all depends on your purpose and preference! Contact me for details!

Lets have a break from weddings for a while and give ways to a real hardcore scene. A ceremony full of culture, ritual, full of colors and emotions celebrated by the hindus all over the world, Thaipusam.

“Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). It is also referred to as Thaipooyam or Thaippooyam in the Malayalam language. The word Thai-pusam is derived from the month name Thai and Pusam, which refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of god Shiva and his wife Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman” ~ wikipedia

Thaipusam 2010

January 31, 2010

dsc_5513

Since 3 years ago, I used to tell myself, thats it . I am not going to shoot thaipusam again. This year, i told myself i need to do this.. again. Shooting for Thaipusam is not something casual and laid back. You need to be ready to wake up early, bear the baaad traffic and patient enough to get the parking, be in a massive crowd, being pushed back and forth.. and the heat.

And i know i never regret doing it again for the second time this time around. More writeups and pictures on it in my next post.

Year end madness!

January 13, 2010

The final 2 months of 2009 was crazy super hectic months for me. A back to back shooting, restless weekend on wedding photoshoots and most and foremost editings and client’s albums.

The highlight of 2009 wedding client was Meen and Munir’s private lil reception. Even though its held in 2010 but i consider it a closure of my 2009 calendar. Decided to have a rest for a month or 2 to concentrate on the album making. Told myself to rest but anyway, I don’t have the heart to ignore incoming inquiries. i’m blessed with more potential clients for 2010. Lots of emails coming in asking for dates and quotations.. The blood and sweat pays off.

Less is more. Thats what i can say about Meen and Munir’s private reception held at the penthouse of Plaza Crowne Mutiara Hotel. When i say less, is not about the preparation or how mediocre the wedding is, the invitation is only for family and close friends to witness this celebration of love of Munir and Meen. The size of the penthouse is great for a small private function, the view is breathtaking.. The cocktail area is facing the twin tower. Too bad it was raining that night so event was fully held indoor. Don’t mind it.. the deco speaks it all. The best so far I might say.. Razak Ahmad, the prolific floral designer is behind all the “OMG its breathtakingly beautiful” setting and decoration. Engraving his name internationally and need i mention he was involved in designing for the weddings of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore and Tom Green. I’m not surprised. He’s totally talented! Good news to bride and groom to be, he’s back to Kuala Lumpur to run his business here after 18 years in the US. (no i did not interview him that night, but i did some google work here.. heheh)

I will start this post with the appetizer.. the deco.. the flowers, the blooms of the night. It was massive traffic congestion along the street of Sultan Ismail. I left the house at 4.30pm as the bride wants me to be there at 6pm for the make up session. It was 6pm and i was stuck for an hour at 5km to destination. Crazy! I text Meen asking if the makeup artist has arrived.. phew lucky me she was also stuck in the jam. Bad traffic!

I managed to arrive at the penthouse around 6.30pm. Not so bad.. the makeup artist wasn’t there yet so i decided to have a peek at the lower penthouse to capture some deco. The moment i step into the room my eyes were glued at the flower arrangements, the table setting and the string of lights hung on trees. Its like entering into a paradise of blooms. Its beyond words to describe how grandeur they were. I was dumbfounded for a mo and did not know where to begin.. It took a moment for me to take out the camera and shoot. I decided to feast my eyes first and plan my shooting. I took out my baby 50mm and start capturing every essence of it. Small details shouldn’t bring to waste.. close up of each element of Razak and team’s touch should be documented. I’m sure this cost fortune! But lucky meen, razak is also a very good friend of the bride’s father. I heard they used to be housemates back in the US. Ok, enough about the bibliography.. I let them speak for itself.. enjoy the photos and more on the wedding highlight will be in my next post!

Stay tuned…

Meen, Majlis Khatam Quran

January 4, 2010

Its just a day before her matrimony. The family decided to have Majlis Khatam Quran before her big event tomorrow, the akad nikah. Looking sweet and divine as always, Meen and Sara (her lil cousin) recite the Quran in the small holly occasion, witnessed by family, friends and special guests among single mothers and the orphans. The melodious recital of marhaban and doa by the group give blessings to the bride and groom to be. To meen, Datin Faridah and Datuk, thank you for having me there again. To meen, you’ll make a beautiful bride tomorrow and congratulation to you and munir..

The moment i entered the small hall, my eyes were glued at how vibrant, bloomed and beautiful the bouquet of roses are. I must say, it was a grade A quality product. Kudos to the bridal dais designer for such an exquisite touch. The combination of deep red and white roses with a lil bohemian black deco, tall couch and a nice chandelier really brought up the divineness of the king and queen of the day.

I love today’s shooting because i got to work at my own pace, observe more and capture things when the bride does not noticed. Yes, i m not the main photographer for today’s event. The groom hired me to capture candid moments.. The freedom is priceless..
